Getting healthcare in the UAE when you speak French

Last updated 2026-09-22

In short

Consulting in French is possible in the UAE: the directory brings together practitioners who declare that consultation language, with their specialty, emirate and neighbourhood. This page answers the most common practical questions and gives no medical advice.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find a French-speaking practitioner in the UAE?
Use the directory search and filter by consultation language, then by specialty, emirate and neighbourhood. The page /en/french-speaking-doctors brings together every practitioner who declares consulting in French.
Are the languages shown on a profile reliable?
They are declared by the practitioner and updated from their professional account. We display them exactly as declared, without translating or completing them.
How do I book an appointment?
Depending on what the practitioner chose, the profile offers either an online appointment request or direct contact by WhatsApp or email. When online booking is active, you pick a day and a time window (morning, afternoon or late day).
When is my request confirmed?
The clinic sets the exact time and confirms the request; the timing may vary. Until that confirmation arrives, the appointment is not firm.
Can I contact the practitioner on WhatsApp?
Only if the practitioner chose to display that channel. In that case the WhatsApp button opens a conversation with a pre-written introduction you can edit.
Are the displayed fees guaranteed?
The fee shown is the one stated by the practitioner for a standard consultation. Additional procedures, tests or surcharges may apply, so confirm the amount with the clinic beforehand.
Is my insurance accepted?
Each profile lists the insurers declared by the practitioner and notes any “pay and claim” arrangement. Always confirm coverage with both your insurer and the clinic.
Which authorities issue licences in the UAE?
Depending on the place of practice: DHA in Dubai, DoH in Abu Dhabi, MOHAP where competent, or the applicable free-zone authority. The profile shows the authority declared by the practitioner.
What do the verification levels mean?
“Licence declared” means the number was provided but not checked by us. “Licence verified” means the number was found on the competent authority's public register. The two are never merged.
Is teleconsultation available?
Only when the practitioner states that they offer it on their profile. If it is not stated, assume in-person consultation only.
What should I do in an emergency?
Do not use the directory: contact UAE emergency services immediately or go to the nearest emergency department. HelloDoc provides no on-call or urgent care.
How do I cancel or change an appointment?
Reply to the confirmation message, or contact the clinic directly using the details on the profile. Tell them as early as possible so the slot can be released.
What personal data is collected?
Data needed to process your request is handled according to our privacy policy. See /confidentialite for the data concerned, its purposes and your rights.
How do I report incorrect information?
Email contact@hellodoc.ae with the profile concerned and the detail to correct. We check with the practitioner before changing anything.
